Can A Nation be Born in a Day?

May 14, 1948. Israel became a nation for the first time since the time of Christ. Jesus Himself spoke of the scattering of the Jews to the nations and their ultimate regathering.(Matt.24) The prophets of old spoke repeatedly of the fulfillment of God's purposes not only spiritually, but geographically. God's covenant promises can not be broken. As Isaiah asked,"Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment?"(Isaiah 66:8) The answer is yes. It happened in the rebirth of modern Israel.God has made promises to not only the Jewish people, but to Arabs, Greeks, Filipinos, yes every nation, tribe, and people. As Christians, our love for Israel and the Jewish people is unshakeable, but it does not mean we love any others less. Yet, we must not underestimate God's unchanging nature and integrity. His Word has come to pass concerning Israel regardless of the opposition, persecution, and suffering. The lessons for us are innumerable, but the most glaring is that we must not lose heart in waiting for the promises of God to come to pass in our own lives.Even so, Happy Birthday, Israel! |
